Neck pain is one of the more physical ailments that adults suffer from. This is because it is caused by a wide array of reasons ranging from bad posture, improper sleeping positions, stressful situations, unhealthy sedentary lifestyles and more. As such, some people tend to brush off this pain and suffer in silence as they wait for it to abate on its own. You do not have to go through your day feeling tightness in your neck on a regular basis. The following are some of the little known tips that you could use to reduce the frequency of neck pain.

Try to keep your body as hydrated as possible

One thing most people do not know is that the vertebrae that make up your spine require copious amounts of water for them to keep their disc height. This optimum disc height is what functions to ensure that your spine stays in correct alignment, hence taking pressure off your back and neck. However, as you are, the water content in the vertebrae gradually begins to decrease as the individual discs degenerate from wear and tear. This makes you more susceptible to neck pain and back aches.

To slow down this process, you could ensure you are properly hydrating your body on a daily basis. Forming good hydration habits could work toward decreasing the rate at with the discs are degenerating, which in turn could reduce your susceptibility to neck pain.

Try to minimise the time you spend on your phone

In this digital age, a significant number of people are attached to their smartphones throughout the day. If you are working and have a high affinity to your phone, you may find yourself contorting your neck into awkward positions to allow you to stay on the phone while keeping your hands unoccupied to facilitate typing. This may seem like a good way to multi-task but in essence, all you are doing is creating increased strain on your neck muscles. That is why it should come as no surprise that your neck feels stressed at the end of a long day.

To prevent this, you should try to minimise the amount of time you spend on your smart phone. Whether it is craning your neck downward so as to text and surf the net, or if it by bending it to the side to cradle it during a phone call, you are causing undue stress to your neck muscles.

Vaccination fact and figures

Before I had my babies, I never realised how much confusion there was over vaccination. There are so many stories swirling around, and it can be really hard for new parents to get a good grasp on the best plan for their child. I thought it would be useful to start a totally neutral blog that looks at the health benefits and effects of vaccination so that parents can make the best decisions for their children. It's so hard and confusing to be a new parent, and I hope that my blog can make it a little easier to make the right decision with regard to vaccination.
